PTFE Hose with stainless Steel Braid(Convoluted)

Convoluted PTFE hoses offer a non-stick, helically-shaped inner
core which minimizes pressure drops and simplifies cleaning. These flexible
hoses are designed to transport almost all substances and to withstand the most
demanding conditions, including high velocity and pressure surges. The standard
PTFE inner core can be replaced with an optional black non-conductive liner.

Stainless Steel Braid

Under pressure, unbraided corrugated hoses have a tendency to lengthen. An exterior layer of stainless steel wire braiding is added to the hose to prevent this. Braiding stops corrugated hose from expanding longitudinally, which multiplies the hose’s internal pressure strength. Braiding precisely mimics the hose’s movements and is incredibly flexible. Two or even three layers of braiding are offered to raise the pressure ratings even further. Braiding made of AISI 304 high-tensile stainless steel wire will be provided unless otherwise requested. If bulk requirements are met, braiding can also be supplied in copper, tinned copper, or stainless steel AISI 316.

SS Bellow Hose

What Is Metallic Bellow?

A Metallic Bellow is a highly flexible, precision-engineered component designed to absorb mechanical movements and vibrations in piping systems. Constructed from durable materials such as stainless steel or other high-grade metals, these bellows feature a series of convoluted rings or folds that allow them to expand, contract, and flex while maintaining structural integrity. They are typically equipped with flanges on both ends, ensuring a secure, leak-proof connection and facilitating easy installation with pipelines.

Metallic Bellows play a crucial role in managing thermal expansion, pressure variations, and misalignment in piping systems. Widely used in industries like oil and gas, power generation, and chemical processing, their convoluted design offers the required flexibility and resilience, while the flanges ensure robust compatibility with various pipeline configurations. Metallic Bellows are critical components used across industries to manage pressure and temperature variations effectively. Their production involves meticulous steps to ensure precision, durability, and performance. Below is a detailed overview of the manufacturing process:

SS Sheet Preparation for Convolutes
  • Material Selection: Stainless steel (SS) sheets of appropriate grades, such as SS304 or SS316, are chosen based on the application requirements.
  • Cutting to Size: Sheets are accurately cut to maintain the bellow’s inner diameter using precision tools like laser cutters, shears, or CNC machines.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: The cut sheets must adhere to design specifications for a precise fit in the intended application.
Forming the Convolutes
  • Convolution Formation: The cut SS sheet is shaped into wave-like folds (convolutes) using a hydraulic press or mechanical rolling process.
  • Material and Thickness Considerations: Sheet thickness, ranging from 0.3mm to 1mm, is selected based on pressure and temperature tolerances. Thicker sheets are used for high-pressure applications, while thinner ones suffice for lower pressures.
  • Heat Treatment: Formed convolutes undergo heat treatment to relieve internal stresses and enhance flexibility and structural integrity.
Ensuring Pressure and Temperature Specifications
  • Thickness Control: The convolute thickness is monitored with precise tools to meet pressure and temperature standards.
  • Material Properties: The material is chosen for its resistance to corrosion, fatigue, and temperature fluctuations. For extreme environments, special alloys like Inconel are used.
Flange Manufacturing
  • Raw Material Selection: Flanges are crafted from SS304, SS316, or specialized alloys for corrosion and temperature resistance.
  • Fabrication: CNC machines or lathes are used to cut and machine flanges to the required dimensions.
  • Thickness Consideration: Flange thickness, typically ranging from 5mm to 25mm or more, is determined by the application’s pressure rating.
  • Drilling Holes: Custom drilling ensures proper hole placement to match the connection requirements.
Attaching Convolutes to Flanges
  • Welding Process: Convolutes are welded to flanges on both sides using high-precision TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding for a strong, leak-proof bond.
  • Inspection: Welded joints are inspected with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like ultrasonic or X-ray inspection to identify any defects.
  • Leak Testing: The entire assembly is pressure-tested to ensure leak-proof operation under specified conditions.
Final Inspection and Quality Control
  • Dimensional Checks: The finished bellows are measured to confirm adherence to specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Functional Testing: Simulations of working conditions validate the bellows’ performance under pressure and temperature.
  • Documentation: A quality certificate and compliance report, including material details and test results, are prepared for final delivery.
